Getting Started
Once I got the car delivered from Tucson, I put it in my small garage and started stripping it down to the bare body. As I had hoped, the body was clear of any rust. On the other hand, I began to see some trouble in the rear quarter panel that indicated the car had been in a rear end collision. There was some obvious body hammering done on the passenger side rear quarter and the rear cove showed signs of having been replaced.
All the rubber was brittle from years in the hot Arizona sun, but the overall condition of the metal was excellent. In addition to having no rust on the body, I was very pleased to see all the suspension parts were smooth and completely clear of any rust or surface pitting.
